Moving up the value chain in Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices.

Dr John Harhen spoke at the national supply chain conference of IPICS on the theme of finding new value in Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare.

The challenge to enhance and create new value in today’s supply chains has never been more pressing. Cost driven outsourcing, technology movements, intellectual property dissipation and need to get upward momentum into corporate earnings have provoked both a regional and global debate. Dr Harhen's contribution outlines where senior directors should look for new value, both at level of individual operations within Ireland Inc. and across global supply chains. The findings though generally applicable to all sectors are presented with particular emphasis on Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Sectors.

The IPICS annual conference took place in Cork, Ireland on May 20th and 21st 2004. Other speakers included the APICS President (US) and representatives from Ingersoll-Rand International, Stryker Corporation, Johnson & Johnson, Pepsi and Penn Engineering.
